Review: Ringo Mobile by Electric Pocket

What is Ringo Mobile?

I was really hoping for greatness with this program and got everything I expected and more. Ringo lets you easily add the awesome raw power of MP3, WMA or WAV format ringtones to every call tone on your device. You can use your favourite music or sound clip as a ringtone - just copy it to your WinMo phone and select it from Ringo’s easy-to-use interface. In addition, Ringo provides an easy way to set and change ringtones and SMS tones for your friends - just pick from a list of the contacts in your address book is listed. Each friend you set up can have a unique MP3, WMA, Wav or Midi ring and SMS tone.

And now for the tough pill to swallow — looks like this pretty little handset will be going for 649 € ($884 USD). Mark down November 6th on your calendar!

Samsung Omnia i900 launched in India

Though priced a bit steeply at Rs. 39,999 ($869 US) for the 16GB model and 37,999 ($825 US) for the 8GB model, the Samsung Omnia (i900) has made its appearance in India.

The Omnia offers up a 3.2-inch touchscreen display, 16 GB (or 8GB, if you prefer) of internal memory, GPS with geotagging, DivX/Xvid support, an accelerometer, optical mouse control, and a sweet, sweet 5-megapixel camera all in sync with Windows Mobile 6.1.

ASUS P565 rumoured to be quite awesome

Are these specs to good to be true? An impressive 800MHz Marvell-Tavor processor, 2.8 inch VGA touchscreen, WiFi 802.11b/g, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, HSDPA support, GPS and a respectable 128 MB of RAM, running Windows Mobile 6.1. Plus it will run ASUS’ own Glide touch-control software.

If these specs are correct, you might want to hold off on buying a new phone until October. The ASUS P565 seems pretty worth the wait.

Several rumours suggest an October launch but none of said rumours claim pricing knowledge, sadly. Guess we’ll have to wait and see!

Sony Ericsson delays XPERIA X1 launch

xperia x1

Sony Ericsson’s XPERIA X1 won’t be ready until the end of the year, says sources at Engadget. But Sony Ericsson isn’t ready to take the blame just yet. It appears as though Windows Mobile 6.1 is the real culprit (or maybe it’s Sony Ericsson’s implementation of it?). The software was actively destroying units on display at IFA. Ouch - didn’t even make it out of the gates, that’s got to hurt. Well, let’s hope this cool looking device gets the fix that it needs to be released in time for Christmas.
