Officially announced today, Indian Windows Mobile users will soon be able to get their hands on the HTC Touch Pro and the HTC Touch Viva.
These two popular Windows Mobile devices will not be sold by any of the three major Indian mobile operators though (Airtel, Reliance, or Vodafone), it seems, as HTC has partnered with Idea Cellular for the release of these devices.
The HTC Touch Pro will be sold for the retail price of Rs. 34,900 ($708) and will be marketed as the HTC Touch Pro T7276 while the HTC Touch Viva will be available for Rs. 16,490 ($335) and will be called the HTC Touch Viva T2223.
No news yet on when they will go on sale but rumours have them available in the next few weeks.

If you’ve purchased a Vodafone HTC Touch Pro, one of the first things you’ll notice is that there is no YouTube application. This is a shame considering
The eForum team on Vodafone’s help forum had this to say:
I expect the Youtube app has been removed due to the amount of data you could potentially use when streaming videos. I appreciate you can still do it via the web browser, but navigating to the Youtube page in your browser is much more difficult than just loading the app, so it rules out people opening it by accident and running up a large bill.
This is strange for 2 reasons: Vodafone users have access to unlimited data and if you’re buying an expensive smartphone, you surely know about data costs and getting an appropriate plan. Secondly, the YouTube app comes with the HTC Touch Diamond, so why not the Pro?
If you want the app, all you have to do is go here and get the CAB file for the YouTube app. Remember, you won’t need the HTC Streaming Media CAB file as it comes with the device.

Someone over at the forums of 4WinMobile’s gotten there hands on a shiny new HTC Touch Pro handset from Vodafone. They’ve posted some impressions and, to my delight, a few nice unboxing photos.
Check out what they had to say about Vodaphone’s HTC Touch Pro (with pics)

All you Vodafone customers (and customers-soon-to-be) rejoice! The Samsung Omnia, Sony Ericsson X1, and the HTC Touch Pro are all up on the Vodaphone store and listed as “coming soon”! While we already know that the Touch Pro should be available any day now, the Omnia should be available later this month and the X1 should be on sale no later than October.
The Samsung Omnia’s got an impressive 5 megapixel camera, microSD card, accelerometer, Bluetooth, GPS, WiFi and the Samsung TouchWiz GUI while the Sony Ericsson X1 has an “Arc QWERTY slide-out keyboard”, large 3″ screen , GPS, WiFi, FM Radio, 3 megapixel camera and microSD slot.
Go Vodafone!

Vodafone UK is fully supporting the HTC Touch Diamond and saying that it is a superior device to the iPhone.
Here’s the quote:
Feature rich Windows Mobile 6.1 device utilising HTC’s new Touchflow UI. This device is in a tablet form factor meaning it is touch screen only. The Diamond surpasses the iPhone in all aspects, the key differentiator is the inherent flexibility of the Diamond. It comes loaded with Vodafone Email Plus and the Vodafone Sat Nav program.
Kyle over at QuicklyBored had this to say:
Here at QuicklyBored, we do recognize that the HTC Touch Diamond has some qualities that make it superior such as a higher resolution display, smaller size, a higher resolution camera and a tilt sensor but Vodafone has gone a little far.

RSSI've seen a big difference in the high pixel density of the Fuze when I have web pages loaded through Opera at a lower zoom level. The fine print that might otherwise be unreadable is sharp.
When's the planned date for this? I have to say, I'll believe it when I see it.
My T-Mobile buddy that is a devoted HTC fan and sold on WinMo wouldn't touch that thing with a 10 foot pole. I guess he has Shadow bitterness issues.
Is is possible to do the opposite? I want my WinMo to use internet connection from my PC via USB. Is it possible?
Have you played with a Touch Pro or a Diamond, Dave? Any big differences between yours and those? I'm very curious!
