Rene Ritchie reviewed the HTC Fuze aka the HTC Touch Pro. The review has a great intro with him flying in the HTC Fuze like a Star Destroyer and humming the Darth Vader theme. Not sure what the significance of it was but it was entertaining to say the least.
The review is incredibly bitter. Coming from an iPhone site, you can tell he’s setting it up for a bad review. Although I don’t agree with some issues in the review, it’s entertaining. My favorite part of the review is where he shows the whole bootup screen. It takes FOREVER. You have to wait through about 6 different screens promoting the various aspects of the phone.
At one point in the review he shows off the TouchFLO 3D OS. According to Rene, TouchFLO 3D is better named “press really hard to stammer along in 2D.” Not quite as easy on the ears but descriptive nonetheless. I’m not sure why he doesn’t use the stylus while browsing the OS because it seems like it would have saved him a lot of hassle. Throughout the video review he gets incredibly agitated and comes across like The Angry Nintendo Nerd. Oh snap! They sound the same too. Maybe they are the same.
TELUS has a section of their website where you can input your favorite elements of a mobile device and it will tell you what the best device is for what you want. What’s really funny about it is that they took the “monkey and a typewriter” theme but changed it to “meerkat and change-o-tron.” So I wanted to see what phone they would give me if I just turned all the settings to full blast. After a long Rube Goldberg experience, you get a suggestion. TELUS recommended me the HTC Touch Pro. Woohoo!
If you’ve purchased a Vodafone HTC Touch Pro, one of the first things you’ll notice is that there is no YouTube application. This is a shame considering
The eForum team on Vodafone’s help forum had this to say:
I expect the Youtube app has been removed due to the amount of data you could potentially use when streaming videos. I appreciate you can still do it via the web browser, but navigating to the Youtube page in your browser is much more difficult than just loading the app, so it rules out people opening it by accident and running up a large bill.
This is strange for 2 reasons: Vodafone users have access to unlimited data and if you’re buying an expensive smartphone, you surely know about data costs and getting an appropriate plan. Secondly, the YouTube app comes with the HTC Touch Diamond, so why not the Pro?
If you want the app, all you have to do is go here and get the CAB file for the YouTube app. Remember, you won’t need the HTC Streaming Media CAB file as it comes with the device.
It appears that the AT&T Fuze (HTC Touch Pro) will finally see the light of day on Tuesday, November 11th. This very - very - sexy phone will be a big hit, there’s no doubt about it. And at $299.99 it’ll sell like hotcakes. Mmm hotcakes with TouchFLO 3D.
Now, check out these other leaked documents containing all you could ever want in Fuze/Touch Pro accessories as well as some more info on the sweet device itself!
Though there’s no news yet on an official launch, it looks like AT&T corporate stores are starting to get some Fuze (HTC Touch Pro) dummy units now. Look at that sexy, sexy phone!
Rumour has it that the AT&T Fuze (that’s the AT&T version of the Touch Pro) will start shipping out to stores some time in the next two weeks. BGR is saying that it’s targeted for a release near Black Friday.
The Fuze is said to be going for $349.99 with a 2-year contract and data plan.
Are you anxiously awaiting October 19th to get your hands on the HTC Touch Pro from Sprint? Eep. Sorry to say, it looks like it’s been delayed. Sprint’s reporting that the device will be late with no real info aside from “by early November.”
Sprint expects to slightly delay launch of the Touch Pro by HTC to ensure we have adequate inventory in all channels before making the device commercially available. Customers can expect the device to become available in select national retailers by the end of the month and then in all Sprint sales channels including online at www.sprint.com and Sprint Stores by early November.
The partnership of KDDI au and HTC have brought the E30HT, pictured above. Though not expected until the first part of 2009, this CDMA device (with EV-DO, naturally) is nearly identical to the one coming to Sprint in the coming months.
The E30HT will be making an appearance at CEATEC at the end of this month so hopefully we’ll hear more about it then.
Someone over at the forums of 4WinMobile’s gotten there hands on a shiny new HTC Touch Pro handset from Vodafone. They’ve posted some impressions and, to my delight, a few nice unboxing photos.
All you Vodafone customers (and customers-soon-to-be) rejoice! The Samsung Omnia, Sony Ericsson X1, and the HTC Touch Pro are all up on the Vodaphone store and listed as “coming soon”! While we already know that the Touch Pro should be available any day now, the Omnia should be available later this month and the X1 should be on sale no later than October.
The Samsung Omnia’s got an impressive 5 megapixel camera, microSD card, accelerometer, Bluetooth, GPS, WiFi and the Samsung TouchWiz GUI while the Sony Ericsson X1 has an “Arc QWERTY slide-out keyboard”, large 3″ screen , GPS, WiFi, FM Radio, 3 megapixel camera and microSD slot.

When's the planned date for this? I have to say, I'll believe it when I see it.

Is is possible to do the opposite? I want my WinMo to use internet connection from my PC via USB. Is it possible?
Have you played with a Touch Pro or a Diamond, Dave? Any big differences between yours and those? I'm very curious!
