Looks like the HTC Touch Diamond’s updated ROM (1.93) is popping up in a number of places around the world including Hong Kong, the UK, and a number of other European countries and word on the street is that it’s awesome.
Included in the 1.93 ROM are improvements to camera navigation, text alert speed, tab-switching speed and a new city selector in the weather tab to make choosing your location fast and easy.
So head on over to the HTC site to check out the available updates and be sure to let us know just what this new ROM offers!
GSM cell phones are designed to work with any service provider but some service providers ‘lock’ the phone they sell you, making it unable to be used with any other service but their own. Here’s is a how-to guide to simply and quickly unlock the HTC TyTN (aka Hermes) so you can use it with any GSM service provider and SIM, anywhere in the world. Though this is a TyTN specific unlocking procedure, most of these steps are identical to steps required to unlock many other Windows Mobile devices. But please, again, be aware that this is specific to the HTC TyTN.
Unlocking your phone is the first of many steps required before flashing your device with a ‘cooked’ ROM. (The term cooked ROM means that the shipped Extended ROM has been modified with other files.)
On Monday, I’ll be showing you how to flash a ROM/upgrade your device.
If you’re an HTC owner like myself, I’m sure you know all about the HTC eClub website by now. Well, all that’s changed. It used to involve knowing your device’s serial number, but not any more.
HTC have completely redesigned their site to facilitate the download of device ROM updates along with tools and patches!
The HTC eClub does still exist, but now offering up some really cool ringtones and will soon be offering wallpapers and other neat stuff, so be sure to check back! This is excellent news for owners and will let people grab what they need easier than ever before. (Unless, of course, like me you have an HTC TyTN on the Rogers network. No love there, I’m afraid.) But head on over to their site to see if you’re one of the lucky ones!
Drewski on the post How to fix Internet Connection Sharing on the Blackjack II: I have used the Howard's Forum solution for internet PC tethering however about 2 days after making the changes whenever I just want to surf the net on my BJ II I now get a 403 Access Forbidden error msg. If I power the phone off and turn it on it allows me to surf for about 1 to 2 days before giving me that error again. When I called AT$T they had me change some settings and that fixed the problem but broke my tethering capability. I reinstalled the Howard's Forum solution and got tethering back but now again have the 403 problem again. Any help would be apprciated.
Bambi Blue on the post Diamond J6: Touch Diamond clone available in China: Wow, Bruno - that's awful! A real Touch Diamond would have been nice, heh, but a fake one?! Especially when you're actually expecting the BB Storm!
Though, from what I'm hearing, the Storm isn't the greatest device. But I haven't seen it myself so I can't say for sure.
What did you end up doing with the fake phone? How much did you pay? I'm sorry you had such a rough time - I feel for ya!
Bruno on the post Diamond J6: Touch Diamond clone available in China: I didn't listened my friends and I just both 2 blackberry storm from china (by mail). It was a surprise when I opened the box and discovered that the mobile sent to me was the HTC TOUCH DIAMOND. A bigger surprise was the discovering that it was not a HTC but a clone. In other worlds, I should listen more to my friends. No windows mobile, no e-mail, just a piece of sh.....
Dan on the post Issues with the Windows Mobile 6.1 SMTP patch?: Couldn't send emails any more no matter what I tried so I downloaded and installed the patch.
So far:
I lost all of my email accounts;
tried to set them up again, but when I used the same name for the account, I got stopped by an alert that said that name was already being used by another account;
I picked a new name for the account and completed the setup, after I hit finish, it jumped to the Outlook account that had previously existed and the new account was not listed under mail accounts;
tried this a couple of times;
Did a hard reset, erasing all of my data, which isn't a big deal I have had to do hard resets so often lately there isn't much there;
After the reboot, I set up the accounts successfully, the device randomly powers off;
It is now frozen with a solid green colored screen, which I can do nothing about, it won't even turn off, I am on hold now with my provider's tech support.
This is my experience so far with the Windows Mobile 6.1 upgrade and the SMTP patch

You know, I like TinyTwitter - for sure - I just didn't really find it to be that remarkable, really. Maybe I should take a look at it again!
Quakk is pretty great, you're right. But have you seen GPS Twit and Twitter Answers? Awesome!
