Blockbuster and Microsoft have teamed up via Live Mesh to offer streaming video to desktops and mobile devices!
Eventually, we’ll give customers instant access to any movie on any device with an Internet connection and a screen,” said Keith Morrow, Blockbuster’s chief information officer.
Not much else is known about the deal between the two, but you can be sure we’ll tell you all about it when we know more!

Ever since Apple broke the news that they were putting out their own mobile phone, everybody has been asking Microsoft about plans to develop their own. And since they started asking, the answer has been the same: “Nope. Not happening.”
Well all that is out the windows because reports are coming out that NVIDIA and Microsoft are teaming up to create a phone powered by a 700mhz Tegra processor. The phone will have advanced video and 3D capabilities, unseen in the current WinMo market. Expect the phone to be introduced at the February 2009 Mobile World Congress.

According to some rumours started by the Inquirer today (ignore their linked ‘video proof’ as it’s clearly a joke), Microsoft is in the final stages of building a phone - the first of its own brand - that will rely on performance to drive sales. They’re allegedly developing a phone that uses one of NVIDIA’s Tegra processors. This processor (likely the APX 2500 chip) would theoretically give the Microsoft device 720p video playback and advanced 3D visuals that no other smartphone on the market has, to date.

Motorola’s co-Chief Executive Sanjay Jha has been tasked with reviving Motorola’s sales after a serious loss of market share to its competitors Nokia, Samsung and Sony Ericsson.
“One of the worst things is if you go to a company and things are not well but there’s not a sense of crisis. That’s not the case here,” he said Thursday. “People understand that changes need to occur and are very open to changes.”

Microsoft has announced the general availability of Windows Small Business Server 2008 (SBS 2008) and Windows Essential Business Server 2008 (EBS 2008). The move is expected to bring enterprise-class server technology to small- and medium- class businesses.

I, personally, haven’t had the chance to get the SMTP patch that Microsoft released recently for Windows Mobile 6.1 devices, but after all the complaints I’m hearing about it I’m certainly hesitant.
According to Smartphone Thoughts (and Pocket PC Thoughts) writer Ed Hansberry, he experienced no issues with the patch aside from a sudden soft reset without any warning. But Mike Temporale at MobileJaw had this to say:
A number of news sites have been reporting about Microsoft releasing a patch that fixes an issue with sending email on your Windows Mobile 6.1 device. The patch is available from the Outlook Mobile team web site and claims to fix the problem. I’m sure it might do that, but there are a number of things that they fail to mention. So before you go and install this patch, read the issues below and weigh the decision to install or not.

Bringing a true desktop web experience to mobile involves more than just a fancy user interface. You need the rich media experience that Flash mostly provides on the net. Finally, this is happening. Adobe will be demoing Flash Player 10 on Windows Mobile today. This is going to give them an even larger market share than Silverlight by beating them to mobile.
Although a lot of people are giving the iPhone grief for not having Flash, it isn’t Adobe’s fault. They’re ready to get Flash on the iPhone except Apple doesn’t seem keen on the idea of Adobe getting its product on all iPhones. Score one for Windows Mobile!

Microsoft is looking to get more Windows Mobile smartphones on Verizon as well as dominate its search and ad systems. To do this, Microsoft will either offer cash incentives to Verizon, or give the company a steep discount on software licenses.
Microsoft sees an opportunity to capitalize on the mobile market where it has an edge over Google due to its prevalence in the smartphone market. This strategy makes sense considering Google is dominating desktop search for the foreseeable future.
Although Windows Mobile has missed yearly sales targets as well as market share to competing smartphones, an increase in mobile search and advertising could tip the smartphone wars in Microsoft’s favor.

Microsoft has begun previewing their newest version of Internet Explorer Mobile (version 6) as a free emulator online. And while it’s no Skyfire, Iris, or Opera… it’s not terrible. It is, at the very least, a huge improvement over Internet Explorer Mobile 5.
I have high hopes for this one, which I was sure I’d never say about Internet Explorer in any incarnation. But here it is, you heard it here first.
IE Mobile 6 features multiple zoom capabilities, better and deeper search integration, enhanced script and AJAX support, support for full fidelity desktop rendering, text wrap, Adobe Flash Lite 3.1 for Adobe Flash content, enhanced cursor navigation, touch and gesture support (pan support), and switch between mobile and desktop modes.
