Finally, Rogers has released the HTC Touch Diamond for the sweet, sweet price of $199.99 on a 3 year contract. Of course, that’s with a mandatory ’sign up’ of a min. $45 data/voice plan, but we expected that.
Other pricing options include: 3 year contract (voice only) for $449.99, 3 year contract (data only) $499.99, 2 year contract for $549.99, 1 year contract for $549.99, and month to month for $599.99. The Rogers HTC Touch Diamond is actually cut like a diamond on the back as the original HTC Touch Diamond. Bell and Telus’ versions seem to be lacking the cool, textured back.

Vnunet.com is reporting today about a new mobile virus using an older infection technique to infect Windows Mobile users.
This so-called ‘companion virus’ is attacking users by assuming the identity of an existing file and moving the old file to a different location in your device’s storage. The virus then runs itself when the original file is called, often loading the displaced file after the virus code has been executed.
Researchers at McAfee have examined the virus and are surprised to find this particular infection technique still being used. Researcher Jimmy Shah had this to say:
This was a bit odd since companion viruses used to be more popular in the days of DOS and we haven’t seen too many on newer platforms.

Canalys recently published a study covering the Q3/2008 smartphone market with results pointing to results opposite of those expected for Windows Mobile. Rumors said that the platform was near extinction, but the numbers from this recent research showed exactly the opposite and who runs a serious risk to leave the market if the rate of decline continues? The Symbian operating system. The data shows a fall of 21.5% from 12.4% marketshare and sales.
Already Windows Mobile has defied the predictions and, in Q3, had a growth of 42.9% in sales and 12.2% in marketshare. With all these predictions, it turns out that Symbian has been the only one to take a numbers loss.
And, of course, I can’t forget to mention Apple, which saw a huge growth due to the launch of the new iPhone 3G, and now occupies the second collation in the ranking.
For Q4/2008 there are predictions for more changes, of course, and we predict an even higher growth for Windows Mobile, thanks mainly to the launch of new smartphones like the Touch Diamond and Touch HD.
And with recent news suggesting that iPhone sales are dropping, we hope to see Windows Mobile’s new smartphones’ sale’s skyrocket!

If you’re traveling into the US (citizen or non-citizen) be aware that your laptop, mobile phone, mp3 player, or any gadget “capable of storing information in digital or analog form.” This also includes video, video tapes, books, pamphlets and “written materials commonly referred to as pocket trash or litter.” This practice by the USA’s Transportation Safety Administration has actually been in effect for awhile but now the Department of Homeland Security is actually acknowledging it publicly.
This, like everything since 9/11 is draped in the cloak of national security. Once your gear has been impounded it can be kept for a “reasonable period of time”. There are reports of this taking quite some time in some instances. Note that this can occur without any suspicion of wrongdoing on your part and that officials may share copies of your data with other agencies.

Downloaded to the Fuze. It makes music, humms, turns the light saber on and off, but doesn't seem to properly use the accelerometer. So, no clash/crash of crossing sabers. too bad.
How... dashing.
