That’s right! Pharos boasted today at CES that their newest unlocked 3G phone works on the 1700 MHz T-Mobile band and also the 850 MHz band.

James Oyang, PhD, President of Pharos, which just recently partnered with Inventec, had this to say about the new phone:

Most navigation solutions for smartphones only work when within a carrier coverage zone. We’ve equipped the Traveler 137 with our hybrid navigation system that follows you wherever you want to go and charges you only when you actually use it.

This rockin’ new device will come pre-customized with SPB Mobile Shell and, according to WMPowerUser, it features Pharos‘ own Smart Navigator software which is a navigation system that can work both with and without a network connection. So even when you’re outside of your carrier coverage zone you can still display, create, and navigate maps from your device.

Curious about Windows Mobile browsers? Well everything you could possibly want to know and more about Opera 9.5, Skyfire, Opera Mini, Iris, Pocket IE 6, Pre-6 IE and NetFront. And the benchmark? None other than iPhone’s Safari browser.

How do you think these browsers did when put to the test? You’ll have to check out the comparison chart to find out for yourself (Werner Ruotsalainen’s full story is available here)!
