Review: Fish Tycoon (Game)

The object of Fish Tycoon game is to discover the seven magic fish of Isola and restore the island to its former glory. It’s simple game - start it up and quickly become a lil fish farmer right away! It’s not time consuming unless you want it to be and the game itself is small so it’s not a big resource hog.

You start with a small selection of fish, some money and a tank. You must breed them, care for them, help them grow, and cure them if they get sick. Along the way you can buy supplies, medicine, research technologies or invest in advertisement to enable you to discover rarer and rarer species until you find the Magic Fish. All of this will be financed by selling exotic hybrids in your shop where cartoon kids come with their parents to tap on cartoon aquarium glass. It’s just like real life!

The game actually runs in real-time, so when your device is turned off or you exit the game, hours later small fish will have grown larger and new surprises await you.

Review: CorePlayer Mobile v1.2.5

In the beginning, there was an awesome media player for Windows Mobile called ‘BetaPlayer‘. It could handle all kinds of audio and video codecs that the mobile version of Windows Media Player couldn’t. Eventually BetaPlayer turned into TCPMP (The Core Pocket Media Player), a freeware media app. And it was truly awesome. Then, all of a sudden, TCPMP dropped support for files downloaded from iTunes for legal reasons, and TCPMP became a little less useful. From this, the commercial CorePlayer was born. CorePlayer allows developers to collect some revenue and pay licensing fees for proprietary codec support.

I’ve been using CorePlayer for quite some time now and I love it. It does everything I want it to do: movies, video clips, audio files, YouTube, podcasts, JPGs, FLV files… and tonnes more.

Samsung Saga: It’s… so blue!

As we all know, the Samsung Saga is soon to hit Verizon Wireless stores. In fact, it’ll be in stores and ready to go home with you on December 1st.

But have you noticed… how blue this handset is? I know, I know - is this really news worthy? Well, no. But I had to draw attention to it again, just in case you had missed this. Now, I’m more of a purist — handsets should come in straight black or hot pink (I’m still a girl, alright?) But I have to say, this looks fairly sweet! Is this why our readers want this phone so badly? Cause I’ll grant you that one. I mean, if the HTC Touch Pro came in hot pink

Thoughts?

Sprint Touch Pro not all it’s cracked up to be?

This video from WMExperts showcasing the Sprint Touch Pro looks awesome, but is it really?

According to a forum thread over at XDA Developers, there are some major gripes about Sprint’s much hyped Touch Pro.

Biggest complaints?

So, readers - are any of you Sprint Touch Pro users having any issues? I’d love to hear about them. Let’s add to the list! (Or, hey, take away from it - I’d much rather hear that it’s worthwhile. I love the Touch Pro!)

Internet Explorer Mobile 6 verdict: A reluctant ‘good’

Microsoft has begun previewing their newest version of Internet Explorer Mobile (version 6) as a free emulator online. And while it’s no Skyfire, Iris, or Opera… it’s not terrible. It is, at the very least, a huge improvement over Internet Explorer Mobile 5.

I have high hopes for this one, which I was sure I’d never say about Internet Explorer in any incarnation. But here it is, you heard it here first.

IE Mobile 6 features multiple zoom capabilities, better and deeper search integration, enhanced script and AJAX support, support for full fidelity desktop rendering, text wrap, Adobe Flash Lite 3.1 for Adobe Flash content, enhanced cursor navigation, touch and gesture support (pan support), and switch between mobile and desktop modes.

HTC Touch HD software grand tour!

This video from pocketnow shows off some of the cool software on the new HTC Touch HD. And, since the HTC Touch HD doesn’t have a hardware keyboard, be sure to check out the part of the video that takes a look at how usable the on-screen keyboard is — looks great!

This device seems very similar to many of the new Touch devices from HTC and actually runs the same version of TouchFLO 3D as the Samsung XPERIA X1.

HTC Touch HD video review and unboxing

This has got to be one of the best Windows Mobile devices out there. The HTC Touch HD has got such a nice screen and media capabilities and I can watch these video reviews all day. The first impressions of the phone clearly leave the reviewer taken aback by the screen and clean user interface. The device is shipping to customers in both Europe and Asia so expect a lot of videos like this. Highlights include:

  • Responsive touch screen
  • Bigger screen and better resolution than the iPhone
  • TouchFLO works fast and smoothly
  • An 8GB microSD card was included

Review: Ringo Mobile by Electric Pocket

    What is Ringo Mobile?

I was really hoping for greatness with this program and got everything I expected and more. Ringo lets you easily add the awesome raw power of MP3, WMA or WAV format ringtones to every call tone on your device. You can use your favourite music or sound clip as a ringtone - just copy it to your WinMo phone and select it from Ringo’s easy-to-use interface. In addition, Ringo provides an easy way to set and change ringtones and SMS tones for your friends - just pick from a list of the contacts in your address book is listed. Each friend you set up can have a unique MP3, WMA, Wav or Midi ring and SMS tone.

ceTwit’s Twitter application for Windows Mobile

Do you use Twitter? My personal favourite Twitter application for Windows Mobile is ceTwit. It has plenty of awesome features - on top of the ability to update your Twitter status, of course - like merged and filtered timeline display complete with user avatars (which are locally cached too, to save re-downloading), account storage, follow/unfollow, direct messaging, one click reply, auto refresh, and support for Twitpic and ping.fm.

Get yourself a copy of ceTwit right here!
