I love Twitter. There’s no secret there. While I’m on the go (which seems to be most times) I use my Windows Mobile phone to tweet to the world. If you’re like me - a total tweet addict - you’ll absolutely want to check out my top 5 best Twitter applications for your Windows Mobile phone. There are some really great ones in there that you shouldn’t miss out on!
It’s like spotting a unicorn! You always wanted to believe knew it existed, but you’d just never seen one… but here it is! Taiwanese site ePrice has pictures of the white HTC Touch Diamond up. Now, I normally hate the look of white electronics and gadgets - I’m a black/metal fan (the finish/coat kind not the headbanging air guitarist kind) but I must say - it looks pretty cool in white.
It’s time for the fourth edition of WindowsMobile Cool’s sister site round up featuring the best of this week at BlackBerry Cool, the voice of the BlackBerry community!
Pocketnow has posted the above video of their software tour of the AT&T Fuze. According to them, the Fuze comes with a lot of extra trial-ware games and doesn’t come with Windows Live or Windows Live Messenger. Hrmm. That’s no good! But it does save a bit of grace, apparently, in that it includes an SMS based IM client that does log in to AIM, Y!, and MSN.
Be sure to check out the above video for the full run down of the AT&T Fuze’s software!
And I’ll let you in on a little secret too — Outside of the USA and tired of seeing that awful message: “This content is not viewable outside of the USA”? Well it appears that you won’t get that message if you’re on your Windows Mobile phone!
Trust me, this Canadian girl can’t get enough of Hulu.com now!
Windows Mobile has a nasty little habit of hiding things in plain sight.
Want your clock to appear in analog mode as seen above? Try this. Tap and hold the digital clock in the top system bar on your phone. You’ll see the option to change from digital to analog there. This will display in all programs, assuming you have this setting enabled.
Want to enable this setting? Just as easy! Tap on Start then Settings then System then Clock & Alarms - select the ‘More’ tab and put a check in the box that says “Display clock on the title bar in all programs.” Presto!
The object of Fish Tycoon game is to discover the seven magic fish of Isola and restore the island to its former glory. It’s simple game - start it up and quickly become a lil fish farmer right away! It’s not time consuming unless you want it to be and the game itself is small so it’s not a big resource hog.
You start with a small selection of fish, some money and a tank. You must breed them, care for them, help them grow, and cure them if they get sick. Along the way you can buy supplies, medicine, research technologies or invest in advertisement to enable you to discover rarer and rarer species until you find the Magic Fish. All of this will be financed by selling exotic hybrids in your shop where cartoon kids come with their parents to tap on cartoon aquarium glass. It’s just like real life!
The game actually runs in real-time, so when your device is turned off or you exit the game, hours later small fish will have grown larger and new surprises await you.
Samsung has just announced that its popular handset - the Samsung i780 - now comes with the Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system.
If you’ve got an older version of the Samsung i780 and would like to upgrade from Windows Mobile 6 to Windows Mobile 6.1, it is possible - at your own risk, of course - via cooked roms. I personally haven’t tried this ROM (as I don’t have an i780) but I’ve tried dozens of cooked roms on my device and I have no complaints. So if you’re feeling brave, try it out for yourself!
Download the cooked Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM for Samsung i780 here.
There’s a strange story coming out of the British mobile scene about Orange UK’s sales people talking their customers out of upgrading to the HTC Touch HD of which they have obtained exclusive rights to in the British market.
Apparently there have been a slew of returns and complaints about this exclusive phone. A source over at msmobiles says:
Just tried to upgrade to the Touch HD and had the operator telling me about the high rate of returns. Apparently poor battery life, and that horrendous camera are putting people off them. The operator tried her hardest to put me off until I pointed out just how many Windows Mobile powered phones I have had (Windows Mobile 2002 and on). So not just returns but actively trying to encourage customers to not buy the orange UK exclusive.
Anyone here experiencing any problems?
What has Orange UK done to this phone? Or is the device flawed right from the gate?
*Real ZunePhone may be larger and more in charge than seen here
Alright - let’s get some conversation going, my dear reader, about the rampant rumours that Microsoft will be getting its own branded phone - Maybe a Zune phone? Maybe something even cooler?
Bambi Blue on the post SkyFire mobile browser updated to 0.8.5: The browser does hiccup a bit from time to time on my device but I would put the blame squarely on my device in that case (it's geriatric, heh).
I'm a big fan of the browser, even besides flash and all that. It's got a really useful home screen, a great bookmarking layout, and the zoom and view functions are the best I've seen.
