Motorola’s co-Chief Executive Sanjay Jha has been tasked with reviving Motorola’s sales after a serious loss of market share to its competitors Nokia, Samsung and Sony Ericsson.
“One of the worst things is if you go to a company and things are not well but there’s not a sense of crisis. That’s not the case here,” he said Thursday. “People understand that changes need to occur and are very open to changes.”
Not only are Motorola employees faced with low morale due to the company’s sales, but around 3,000 jobs have already been cut at the company in an effort to scale back.
To change this, Jha will be making a push in key markets such as North America, Latin America and parts of Asia such as China. The company also plans on focusing its efforts developing a smaller number of devices powered by Android and Windows Mobile. Jha also plans on bringing the company up to speed with the latest smartphone technology.
“What we lack today is our ability to deliver smart phone devices.” said Jha.
I believe Jha’s plan is incredibly sound and forward thinking but only time will tell.
