
Ted Rogers, Chief Executive Officer of Rogers Communications Inc., has has been warning his top executives for months now that “bad times are coming”, telling them to pull back on costly acquisitions and start raising capital for wireless, cable and media wells run dry.
The stock market appears to be on shaky ground these days and, as Rogers said yesterday in a speech in Toronto, the markets are headed for a reckoning that will take a heavy toll.
You may well find out very soon which companies are best prepared to withstand the challenges ahead…For the past 18 to 20 months, I’ve been saying bad times are coming, batten down the hatches, raise as much money as you can. Don’t buy any stupid acquisitions just because it looks good.
