Microsoft launches Windows Mobile Applications directory

Windows Mobile Applications
It requires Silverlight to be installed, has no search function and seems to have forgotten to list the more impressive Windows Mobile programs (example: the best GPS program - TomTom - is not listed at all in GPS category!). It also is not running inside of Windows Mobile phone like Apple iPhone App Store does with the iPhone.

Come on, Microsoft, show us Windows Mobile fans some love! This could be pretty awesome - let’s hope it goes somewhere.
This application could be useful if:

  • it ran inside of Windows Mobile (Silverlight for Windows Mobile still not released, despite many promises from Microsoft)
  • Microsoft’s fees were comparable to those of Apple
  • Microsoft made catalogs of software for mobile operators and not just for end users
  • this directory application had a social component so that users could rank and comment on applications
  • the list of applications were a little more complete since even some of the most important applications for Windows Mobile are not listed at all (TomTom, where are you?)
  • To learn more, visit the Microsoft Mobile Applications directory here (Silverlight must be installed to use it).
